about

Murmurations is the record I put the most work and thought into. Probably as many tunes were scrapped as made it onto the final release, some of which you can find on Brownlie Towers. Only 'Away', which was supposed to be on Glass Moth, was a prior work, everything else was written for the express purpose of being on the record.

'This Here' is built around a recording I took on my phone from New Years Eve 2012/2013 in Preston, Melbourne, from my friend's roof of the fireworks people were letting off all over the neighbourhood. 'Asemic' came to life out of a weird sustained noise by shitty ikea desk made when I kicked it just right. The voice in 'Away' is a platform announcement at East Richmond train station.

This record is I think the best-realised iteration of Oes. It suffers maybe from being overthought in places and i'd kill for a second run at the master but I feel like I achieved stuff here that I couldn't have done without the effort and patience involved in making this record, which felt like it took a million years.

Thanks for listening.
